Sunday a street fair in downtown Brooklyn included an exhibition of the New York Transit Museum's bus collection.
These famous publicity photos in the Honeymooners (mid 1950's) where recreated by the museum, by renumbering and repainting a similar bus from the collection to number 2969 that appeared in the photos (it is not the actual bus). One of the bus depots in Sunset Park Brooklyn is named after Jackie Gleason.
Also on display was the bus that was in the news a few weeks ago that commemorated the first air conditioned bus in New York City.
Finally, bus number 100, from 1959, was the very first of many thousands of these buses (called fishbowls because of the large windshields at the time) common from 1959 even into the 1990's.
