Coney Island "Eiffel Towel" Parachute Jump Lighting Dedication  2006-07-10

The landmark Parachute Jump in Coney Island was built for the 1939-40 World's Fair and was originally located on the fair grounds in Flushing Meadows Park.   After the fair it was disassembled and reassembled on the site of Steeplechase Amusement Park, now the site of Keyspan Park.    It was recently rehabilitated and Friday nite was a dedication of a high-tech lighting system.

Below the parachute jump below is the Borough President of Brooklyn, Marty Markowitz.   Then I am next to the Tattoo Lady from the Freak Show.

Then we rode the landmarked 1920-era ferris wheel (Wonder Wheel - http://www.wonderwheel.com), and got some nice elevated and then motion shots of the 1927-era Cyclone.     I had just eaten, so I skipped that ride.
