Gilbert Stuart Exhibition at the Met 2004-10-26

The Gilbert Stuart Exhibition at the Met which includes the famous unfinished portait, the REVERSE of which was the painting used to make the etching for the one dollar bill.   See below.    Also see pix below of the many copies of the same Washington portraits made by Gilbert Stuart, a famous American painter popular in the late 18th century; the juxtaposition of the same portaits in the gallery with slight variations was quite interesting.
