Williamsburg Bridge this past Tuesday,
6:30 pm, walking westbound from Williamsburg to Loisaida (today's gentrified
name for the Lower East Side, which is simply Spanish for lower east
side). The plaques date back to the
original 1903 opening and the description (not clear in these photos) describe
the commissioning of the bridge construction by the separate cities of New York
and Brooklyn prior to NYC unification in 1898.
