Brooklyn Museum Women's Suffrage Exhibit   2008-03-04

An exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum documenting the struggle for women's suffrage, mostly covering the period during the 19th century up until the passage of the 19th amendment in 1920.    As an interesting bit of trivia, the newspaper below shows the name of Victoria Woodhull, the first female presidential candidate back in 1872.

Last photo shows the 'sculpture' called 'The Dinner Party', showing 3 tables of 13 seats each, each honoring a different woman from ancient times until the 20th century involved with women's rights issues.   Believed to be sort of a triple representation of the 'Last Supper' by Leonardo da Vinci.
