Historic St. George Theater and Frank Sinatra, Jr.   2007-02-12

Another activity involving a restored 1920's "movie palace".    This one was the 1929 St. George Theater in Staten Island, which is a short walk up the hill from the ferry terminal.    It is in a Spanish Baroque and fortunately in remarkably good shape.   It was reopened in 2005 as a performing arts center.

The theater has a house organist and a functional organ, reminiscent of most movie palaces of the 1920's and 30's that had a live organist.

I was there Saturday nite for a performance given by Frank Sinatra Jr.    I took my mother who loved it; my girlfriend dozed off.
